Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I absolutely love this place....My mom used to always take me when they were in Belen....She's the one who introduced me to the place...When I had heard they shut down in Belen I was sad......But when I moved to Los Lunas I saw that they were there! Me and my son love this place....Love both of the chile red and green...It's a family owned place and they are very nice...Chips and salsa are awesome and sopapillas are the bomb! Sopapilla Burger.....all I can say OMG yummy!!!! Never had something in there I didn't like

This is a hard one to give a good review on. To start the first younger girl that took our drink order just seemed not to care to much. Our drinks were wrong. However the waiter was super polite and corrected the issue. Now on to the food it was good and average. I had chicken fried steak and eggs. The steak was nice and crunchy, although the gravy was from a package. I'm thinking this place is far better suited for lunch. So if we are in the area again will give it another go.

Breakfast is served all day here, and they have your typical New Mexican fare. Tacos for breakfast? You can get those too. The entire menu seems to be available all day long. I had a breakfast burrito with bacon, smothered in red. The chile was flavorful and spicy, but not too hot. The bacon inside was crispy and tasty (this is inportant, no one likes floppy bacon in their burrito). Service was really quick, especially considering how busy they were. This place is sort of hidden, but worth stopping by if you're in the Los Lunas area and looking for something tasty. It's clean, and service is fast and friendly.

Absolutely the best place to get Mexican cuisine in all of Los Lunas. Stuffed sopapilla were amazing! Highly recommend!!!

Pretty good New Mexican food, We expected a little more because of the previous Yelp ratings so sometimes that effects how you feel about a place. Not bad and we would go back and give it another try.

Good to have real New Mexico food. I have been working in Phoenix for the past several years. Cant find real chili there. Walking into T j's is like being welcomed back home. Food, service etc was great and we will be coming back next time we get back home.

I think this is some of the best New Mexican food I have ever had. The red chili here is authentic, has great depth, and isn't so hot you can't appreciate the flavors. I get the huevos rancheros with papitas and red chili and it never disappoints. Don't expect great service, it's just like every other small town restaurant. They understaff and work their butts off. But the food more than makes up for it.

Came back to TJ's to give them another try. Tonight ALL of our plates were wonderful. The Carne Adovada was Very good and the hasbrowns were perfect. Server could've been a bit more polite but, maybe she was having a bad day.? We still tipped 20% as the food was wonderful.

Had a wonderful breakfast this morning - huevos with carne adovada . Attentive service and personable owner walks around the tables checking on customers - delightful!

Food was decent, salsa way too hot, waiter (Greg I think) rang us up and we added the tip wrong, then corrected it right in front of him, and so there was no way he misunderstood, well it's only a few bucks, but just checked the card statement and he ran it for the higher amount. . Just kind of lame to be dishonest to pick up a couple bucks (we already tipped over 20 percent anyway). Won't be going back, just way too many options.

Great place to have a family meal! It was so "homestyle" which is exactly what I miss! We were quickly seated by a young woman, which is the norm for these small town family owned places. As I grazed through the restaurant, I noticed the abundance of cowboy hats! I say to myself "I'm home"! No need to click your heels here, if New Mexican food is what you want, send your taste buds no further. I ordered the bean tostada plate, enchiladas and a beef taco. Everything was fab! The sopapillas...amazing! I think they use yeast? Which in my humble opinion gives them a good taste. If homestyle is what you crave, put down that corporate kool-aid and grab a sopapilla! Try it, Love it, Yelp it...

I had really high hopes for T J's after reading the other yelp reviews. I was impressed with a few of their menu items, and severely disappointed with others. I ordered everything a la carte so I could sample a few of their items. First, I had the red chile french fries. These were awesome: thin cut fries (from a box), spicy red chile, and lots of cheese. - This is only the second restaurant in NM whose red chile I've enjoyed (thus, I'm usually a green chile person). Second, I ordered 2 chicken tacos. These were not good at all! The tortillas (from a box) were stale, and the chicken was flavorless and cold. If I had to guess, I would say the chicken is boiled....but with zero spices. Finally, came the chile relleno (I am on a mission to find the best relleno in NM). Unfortunately, this relleno was near the bottom of my favorite relleno list...The breading was really thick - it was crunchy on the outside (i get my chile verde on the side to prevent sogginess) - but the breading that lied between the crunchy outside and the pepper was very soggy and mushy. The chile itself was very good, but the low quality, greasy cheese really took away from the quality of the pepper. The sopapillas at T J's are DYNAMITE!!! My lovely and talented wife thinks they were maybe made using yeast....I'm not sure, but they were probably the best I've had in LL. The staff at T J's was super friendly, and judging by the massive crowd of people in there, it is obviously a hometown favorite. I might go back just for the red chile fries and the sopapillas, but I know I won't be ordering tacos or chile relleno.
